Okay, so really, any song by this band qualifies for Mail Music Monday, if only because of it's name. I chose it today because The Postal Service is actually playing in Grand Prairie, TX and this song also mentions mail — kind of a triple play.
According to wikipedia, this is how the band got it's name: “The band's name was chosen due to the way in which it produced its songs. Tamborello wrote and performed instrumental tracks and then sent the DATs to Gibbard, who edited the song as he saw fit (adding his vocals along the way), and sent them back to Tamborello through the United States Postal Service.” How cool is that?
Hope you enjoy and if you have any mail music suggestions, please send them my way!
[…] music fan in general) you might know of the connection between this week’s mail music and last week’s. It proves how music bridges generations. If you know what it is, it would be nice of you share it […]
Excellent choice! That was a great CD, and I think they were sponsored for a time by the USPS – pretty cool! And Ben Gibberd is great in Death Cab as well. Excellent choice!
Thanks, Paul. I’m glad you like it. I hope you get to see them if their tour takes them your way.
