I know that today is still September but Tuesday is October 1 and kicks off National Stamp Collecting Month. So my challenge became finding songs about stamp collections or stamp collecting. You may be surprised to know that I found several. What's weird to me is that most of them are 5 minutes long or longer.
I like this one and it's not too long. It's by Kimya Dawson of the Moldy Peaches and it's called “So Nice So Smart”. It was featured in the movie Juno, which I really liked.
I've been thinking a lot about how much I wish I'd started a collection years ago. With mail volume dwindling, I think that some stamp collections will become even bigger gold mines. And when you think of the tiny investment it takes to get stamps when they're new, well, some people who started a long time ago can be sitting on a fortune that cost very little to amass.
